4060 DMM Sample rate between channels

Hello,

I am trying to utilize some old hardware in an updating project. We currently have some PXI2503 multiplexers feeding a 4060 DMM.

Because it is a DC signal, once I reject the switching noise and DMM settling, I am confident in using a fairly small sample average. I suspect I may need to upgrade the DMM card because I need approximately 0.1-0.2s per channel which at the moment I am unable to get.

What kind of scan time can I expect per channel?
Can I switch the multiplexers without reconfiguring the DMM?  currently this seems to be the largest delay in readings.

Hi AB,

According to the specifications for this switch, the maximum switching time should be 5ms.  Understandably, there is no specification for settling time for the 4060 as that time depends on the input signal.  If you are certain that your DC signal is clean, a maximum sampling rate of 5-10 Hz sounds pretty low.  It's possible that you could improve this sampling rate by upgrading your DMM, but we would need to know more about your signal.  As for replacing the multiplexer without reconfiguring the DMM, I'm not clear on what you are asking.  You would at least need to configure the device in Measurement and Automation Explorer.

Let us know if you have any further questions.
