Setting a COM port for an instrument currently under USB controllers.

Hi,

I have a Horiba (Laqua) PC1100 meter that has a USB connection. Currently, the PC recognizes the device and is assigned under universla serial bus controller, but LabVIEW does not recognize this when trying to set a Serial connection. Does anyone know how to create a COM port and assign the instrument to this port?

Thanks,

Simon

From the manual:

Use the optional USB cable (part number: 3200373941) or serial cable (part number:
3014030151) to connect the instrument to a personal computer (referred to as PC in the rest
of this document).

Which of the cables do you have? If not the serial cable you need a driver from Horiba for communication.

Hello Albert,

I have the USB cable (part number: 3200373941). I have installed the driver from Horiba, which is how I got the PC to recognize the instrument in the first place. Any further suggestions?

USB communication is possible under VISA but not as easy as serial. If that serial cable is not really expensive I would buy it. Speed is more than high enough for pH measurements anyway.

Or ask Horiba how to handle this, maybe you can exchange the cable.
