Bug in Measurement Automation Explorer 4.6.2f1?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

after upgrading MAX to 4.6.2f1 (during installation of LabVIEW 2009 SP1 a.k.a. 9.0.1) I cannot change the names of devices in MAX. E.g. if I create a simuölated device, I cannot change the name from /dev1 to /my_device.

Did anyone encounter similiar problems with new MAX?

What happens when you right click and select rename? Do you want to programatically change the name?

I get an error message in German, which is translated to:

The chosen name is either not valid or already in use.

Both reason are not true. It is also not possible to delete the simulated device. For me it looks like as if I try to access a file, which I do not have write access, but I have the same problems with my administrator account.

Any ideas?

I tried your problem in my MAX 4.6.2f1 and had no problems to change the name.

Is there an error code in the error message? Can you post a screenshot?

I do not see this problem using 4.6.2f1 but did have my max database get corrupted recently (I had to wipe the DB and put in my devices again).

But I can add, rename both virtual and simulated devices on my version.

Here is the screenshot. Sorry, it is in German. I posted the translation above. No Error Code or something.

Thank's for the screenshot. German is no problem for me.

It looks like a corrupted database of MAX.

Follow the steps in the following link. Perhaps that will fix your problem.

But cleaning up the corrupted database will remove all configuration settings. The next time MAX is launched, you will have to configure all of your hardware again.

Thanks, this solved my problem. I just deleted the MAX data folder.

I already had my old MAX configuration in a backup, therefore reconfiguration is no problem.
