DSC EPICS PV Names

Solved!
Go to solution

I have been playing with the EPICS I/O server built into the DSC Module of LabVIEW 2009. It is nice to have this native server, but  it insists on prefixing each Process Variable name with the name of the computer. That is, if the NETBIOS  hostname of my machine is FRED, and I try to create a Process Variable with the name Optics:FrontEnd:Periscope_V_Reading I end up getting FRED:Optics:FrontEnd:Periscope_V_Reading. I  understand that some labs insist on this PV naming  convention, but others insist that the prefix identify the location or subsystem. How  can I over-ride this default and get fully-customizable PV names?

Hey Rich,

You should be able to change the PV name in the Configure EPICS Server I/O Server dialog box by just left clicking on the PV name one time.  The cursor should then appear next to the name, and you can just use the keyboard to edit the name
