In order to avoid users from accessing the top level VI, I want to hide the front panel.
So by having an icon in the system tray, I am aware that the program is running and have a small right-click menu to maximize the window when needed.
Thank you for the additional details. That make some sense. Personally, I think I would try a slightly easier approach like simply asking for administrative credentials (a quick and dirty Prompt User ExpressVI configured for a password displayed string would do) and avoid any OS specific hacks like using a system tray. But, in this case, YOU are the User so you can write your own User Story. HINT: give it a happy ending 🙂
