Cursor change event not firing in Cwgraph

Am running a "background loop" consisting of checking a single boolean and multiple "do events". All my other UI elements update witout incident, but am unable to get the cursor change event(for CWgraph) to fire if I am in this simple loop.

Any recommendations?

 I decided to completly change the code around to instead use timer events to monitor the state. Thanks for your response.
