I recently had trouble with a keyboard/touchpad combination with my cRIO-9030. That was resolved by getting a Linux compatible keyboard/touchpad which worked when plugged directly into the cRIO. However, if I plug it into a USB hub the touchpad does not work. The keyboard works and the cRIO can read USB thumb drives just fine. But the touchpad works. I have tried three different USB hubs
One thing I noted is that none of the hubs listed are separately powered: all depend on the bus power from the host port. It's not unexpected that the touchpad could require more than 100mA and therefore be unusable on a bus-powered hub. Try to dig up a self-powered hub and check
So it is, I missed that you'd mentioned the Amazon Basics was both the 2.0 and 3.0 versions. When plugging/unplugging the touchpad from the hub, do you see any information in the kernel logs?
Check with dmesg | tail shortly after plugging the touchpad into the hub.
