Hi,
The user manual of my PXIe-1082DC states that I should clean the fan filter located in the filter retainer at the back of the PXI . I checked the back of the PXI and found the air filter retainer empty . I was wondering if a fan filter should have been included with the PXIe chassis or if they are purchased separately.
Thanks for your help.

Hey @julien_icon-tech,
Yes, the fan filter should have been a part of the PXIe-1082. As you mentioned, this should be located in the filter retainer at the rear of the chassis. The only separately purchased options listed in the PXIe-1082 User Manual and Specifications are the following:
"Optional Features
– Front and rear rack-mount kits
– Replacement power supply shuttle
– EMC filler panels
– Slot blockers for improved cooling performance
– System Assurance Plans"
Hope this addresses your question! For how long have you had the device?

Hey,
We made the decision to remove the fan filters from all PXIe chassis back in 2014, for a multitude of reasons. The main one being that users would not perform regular maintenance on their filters. This would lead to more frequent failures due to negative effects on thermals.
If you need filters, they are an added optional accessory.
