Challenge: Developing an energy-efficient leg-wheel hybrid mobile robot that can drive quickly and smoothly on flat terrain and can stably negotiate natural or artificial uneven terrain.
Solution: Using NI LabVIEW software and CompactRIO hardware with various I/O modules to rapidly integrate the mechanical design, mechatronics, and programming into a functional robot prototype.
Go Prof. Lin and National Taiwan University ME! We're rooting for you!
Definitely one of the best application for CompactRIO that is both technically challenging and simply AWESOME to watch in action!
Prof Lin and the National Taiwan Univ ME team did an amazing job on these robots. The demo never fails to awe audiences and attracts great interests in CompactRIO and LabVIEW during every presentation, especially how the robots makes people feel like watching Transformer in real life.
Cool factor aside, the dynamics that goes into balancing quad- and hex- leg-wheel, as well as the sensor feedbacks that goes into the control system, demonstrates the power of GSD platform, and simply makes this entry the "spokesRobots" of the year.
Best of luck to this great team!

really amazing and impressing application!
Very Cool!. Post it on robotics community
