Documenting Unit Tests

Hello Unit Testers,

Have any of you been asked before to document your unit tests? If so did you find a useful format or standard way of doing it?

I have a customer that has asked for documentation of unit tests. At this time, I put together a fairly simple table with just the name of the VI (which describes the test to some degree) and then the VI description (where I came up with a template to describe the conditions for the test). I'm generally ok with this approach, but was hoping to find a better way to do it or present the information.

TIA!

For regulated projects / products, we have stored evidence of unit testing along with other artifacts (requirements spec., design docs, acceptance and system test docs, VI Analyzer configuration and output, etc.). This evidence is simply the output of the unit testing tool, stored as files. We did not create any separate custom document for the customer.
