NI Technical Expo 2013 Technology

Thank you for stopping by the NI Technical Expo. Here is a list of the demonstrations and technologies that you may have seen.

Shake Weight Race
img01_shaker.png This station demonstrated the acquisition and analysis of data. Participants raced to shake the weights faster than their opponents, and the acceleration data was saved to a TDMS file. That file was then opened in DIAdem with the corresponding video file to allow detailed analysis of the data.
Technologies:
img02_diadem.png DIAdem is software specifically designed to help engineers and scientists quickly locate, inspect, analyze, and report on measurement data using one software tool. Find out more about DIAdem at ni.com/diadem.
img03_labview.png NI LabVIEW system design software is at the center of the National Instruments platform. Providing comprehensive tools that you need to build any measurement or control application in dramatically less time, LabVIEW is the ideal development environment for innovation, discovery, and accelerated results. Learn about LabVIEW at ni.com/labview.
img04_cdaq.png NI CompactDAQ is a rugged, modular data acquisition system that provides sensor and electrical measurements on the benchtop, in the field, and on the production line. See the full line of cDAQ platforms and modules at ni.com/data-acquisition/compactdaq.

CompactRIO Demo Station
img05_crio.png The CompactRIO station demonstrated NI tools for control and remote data logging, including using the C-Series modules for motion control, power monitoring, and robotics.
Technologies:
img06_crio.png NI CompactRIO combines an open embedded architecture with small size, extreme ruggedness, hot-swappable industrial I/O modules, and is powered by the NI LabVIEW reconfigurable I/O (RIO) architecture. NI cRIO provides the optimum platform for developing control and remote monitoring systems. Learn about the cRIO platform at ni.com/compactrio.
img07_cseries.png Currently, there are more than 70 NI C Series modules for a wide range of different measurements. Channel counts on the individual modules range from three to 32 channels to accommodate a wide range of system requirements. See the full line of NI C Series modules at https://www.ni.com/en/shop/compactdaq/compactdaq-modules.html.
img08_sbrio.png The NI Single-Board RIO platform combines a real-time processor, reconfigurable FPGA, and analog and digital I/O on an embedded, single board programmed with NI LabVIEW. The sbRIO platform is ideal for deploying programs developed with cRIO.
img09_sadaq.png The NI CompactDAQ Stand-Alone chassis (9138 or 9139) provides a powerful embedded platform with a dual-core Intel processor running Windows 7 or a Real-Time OS.

PXI ATE Station
img10_pxiate.png This station illustrated the use of PXI, modular instruments, and NI TestStand to implement a batch-test manufacturing test. This architecture allows maximum use of the test hardware and minimizes overall test time without complicating the test sequence development.
Technologies:
img11_pxi.png PXI is a rugged PC-based platform for measurement and automation systems. PXI is both a high-performance and low-cost deployment platform for applications such as manufacturing test, military and aerospace, machine monitoring, automotive, and industrial test. See how engineers use PXI and select from the range of PXI platform products at ni.com/pxi.
img12_mi.png Modular instruments from NI deliver flexible, software-defined solutions for complex measurement challenges, from DC to microwave frequencies. See the full range of instruments and devices at ni.com/modularinstruments.
img13_ts.png NI TestStand is a ready-to-run test management software that is designed to help you develop automated test and validation systems faster. You can develop test sequences that integrate code modules written in any test programming language. See how TestStand will lower your test costs at ni.com/teststand.

PXI RF Station
img14_pxirf.png This station highlighted the advantages of the PXI platform for RF over traditional box instruments. The demonstration included examples of running tests for wireless devices, aerospace communication, and spectral analysis.
Technologies:
img15_rf.png PXI RF modular instrumentation delivers high-performance systems capable of achieving speeds up to 10X faster than traditional tools. NI RF products test a wide range of wireless signals and protocols, saving costs on development, station size, power, and maintenance. Learn more about the PXI RF advantage at ni.com/rf.
img16_rfsw.png NI RF Software is designed to keep pace with emerging communication standards, providing generation and analysis functions for a variety of today’s and tomorrow’s communication techniques.

USRP RF Station
img17_usrp.png This station demonstrated the power of the affordable PC-hosted platform used with NI LabVIEW software to build powerful wireless communications systems for research and education. The station demonstrated the use of the USRP as a software-defined radio to acquire and interpret signals from planes flying overhead to decode their ID number and position information.
Technologies:
img18_usrp.png With frequencies from 50 MHz to 2.2 GHz and prices starting at $2,719, the NI USRP is a low-cost alternative to expensive RF research tools. Learn more about the USRP at ni.com/usrp.
