VISA read -write in labview 6.1

Hi,

I am using Labview 6.1. When I pass query in VISA- Interactive control, the instrument respond to query. But I when do same thing through Labview VISA Write/Read Vi, it shows time-out error. Send me the solution.

Albert's correct, Before anyone can 'send' you a solution, you have to provide more information. You don't even say what type of instrument you are talking to, how the instrument is connected (serial, GPIB, etc), or what you are sending.

Hi ,

 The more information is as follows. I am using Agilent HP 8140 OTDR. The OTDR is connected through serial port. The instrument is responding serial port and can be accessed by using VISA interactive control pannel.

 I am attaching a VI which opens the Instrument , write a buffer ( trac:data) command and read the output buffer. While reading the O/P buffer , it shows time out error.

Hi

As far  as I can see you are not sending an End Of Line or End or Identify signal at the end of your message.
try to extend the command with CRLF (use the constant in the string palette and add that to the string with the concat function).

and see what happens
