How to replace 5411 with 5412 AWG with minimal pain

I developed a LabWindows 8.0 application driving a number of boards with DAQmx calls and a 5411 AWG using nifgen calls on a PXI chassis.  I have a colleague who wants to use the source code with the same hardware except the 5411 has been replaced with a 5412 AWG.  Can I just rename the 5412 device in MAX (listed in DAQmx folder) as DAQ::6 (how I see the 5411 as a traditional DAQ device)?

Yes, you can rename the 5412 in MAX - just change the name in MAX to "6" (with no "DAQ::" in front of it) - and the existing code will be able to open a session to the 5412 using "DAQ::6" as the resource name.  Hopefully everything else just works!

Your application may just work with the new hardware, but there are some slight differences between the 5411 and 5412.  Here is an NI KnowledgeBase article entitled "Transitioning Applications from NI 5411 to NI 5412" that describes the differences between the two devices.

The link provided to the documents above describing the 5411 and 5412 differences does not work.
Can you provide a working one?
Thanks,

SIMTECH,

I was able to navigate to the above link.  Here is the actual address of the article, please post back if you are still encountering difficulties.

I was referring to the two document links on thhe page.
When I try and download either of the two .doc files:
"Features Supported..."
"NIFGEN Functions..."

I get an error.

Thanks

Ryan,

The links to the .doc files on that page are to .ae. and us normal folks can't access the application engineer pages.Smiley Wink
